I think I’ve finally figured out what this whole Social Forum in Florence is actually about. Lots of the press – and especially the foreigh press are calling this an anti-globalization summit.
It is and it isn’t. It *is* because anti-globalization is one of the three main themes:
(anti)-Globalization
(anti)-Liberalism
Democracy & human rights.
At least this is as I understand it.
Anyway… so far so good. No Black Blockers (the VIOLENT anti-globalists)… but we’ll have to wait for the march on Saturday…
I think I’m just rambling here, but listinging to the radio & tv I’m not the only one!
I’ve decided I need to look up the exact meaning of the word Globalization. In my mind it’s something like “the exchange between nations of….. culture, goods, intellectual property, etc. etc. ANYTHING”.
So, considering my definition I’m all for GLOBALIZATION but I’m basically against war…. in particular any war against Iraq at this point in time!
Time to get back to work.
